Failure of the the entire MEC...
If this TA is voted down with a significantly large number against and Richard parks us or drags this out for an extended period of time it will have been a failure of the entire MEC!
The MEC knew what we were looking for in the survey. Obviously our expectations have not been met. It remains to be seen if that is the sentiment of the majority, but if it fails as miserably as it seems to be trending then the fault falls squarely on the shoulders of the MEC for sending this to us.
I have never been an advocate for doing away with Alpa, there are some really big issues out there (ie. ME3) and we need a large presence in DC to deal with them. In my 15 years here however, I have never seen the shenanigans that are being pulled to keep the dissenting opinions silenced like they are for this TA. I am embarrassed at how our Union has behaved.

I'd lower the value to 1.0B and put it all into pay with no concessions and donate 100M to charity.

I don't believe the 1.1 billion dollar number. Those who provided the data to get to this number have no credibility. These are the same people selling this at all costs.
I no longer believe anything which comes from the MEC. I don't find them truthful. I believe they will say ANYTHING which will sell this TA.
I do trust some specific reps. Looking at everything that has materialized, some local reps clearly have the facts on their side.

Negative.
Saying No during the bargaining process is not rejecting anything - it is called bargaining.
They had one opportunity to accept or reject the TA - that was the vote and they accepted it.

I no longer trust ALPA (the officials on the MEC--not to include some local reps).

Sometimes management doesn't believe what the union is telling them either. Sometimes it takes the voice of the entire pilot group to get the message across.
That message is not: ON TIME - ON TARGET
That message is: WAY TOO EARLY - WAY OFF TARGET

But realistically, I'll bet the company could drop the sick leave verification and change the OE pull from 75% to 25 % and this thing would probably PASS 70-30. Based on the Unions numbers those two items are very inconsequential so I can't imagine it changing the overall value by much right?

The MEC should have walked away.
Anderson needs this deal more than we do.
He also knows the Moakists will never put up a fight. He took advantage of that.
So here we are. Its left to the line pilots.
