The Chief Pilot is wrong because this is not a political activity, it is a union activity. A company MUST allow for proper union activity on its premises. The ALPA boards aren't there because the company wants them, they're there because the law requires it.

The problem here is that the union is the one that gets to decide what is proper union activity. If the union decides the activity is improper and complains to management, then management can use that complaint as a bludgeon to stop the activity. This is DALPA trying to save its skin by partnering with management. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about this current MEC administration, I don't know what will.

Back to my question...is it illegal to tell an off-duty Delta pilot that he is not allowed to collect signatures in the crew lounges for an ALPA petition?
No, not if the union is who prohibits the activity. You could ask the chief to show you the policy that prohibits the activity, and there won't be one. If you push it that far, it is then they'll have to admit that it's DALPA that is prohibiting the activity.

The last thing Anderson wants is to loose his DALPA puppets... He is very concerned regarding the possibility of DALPA being replaced with a pro-pilot in house union on DAL property. DALPA is the only union that you pay each month to lie to your face and spin a crap TA... the reps should be ashamed.

Just to be master of the obvious the guys who are getting watchful protection from the company are the same guys who worked out the "historic" TA. You know, the one where there was no money left on the table. How can anyone believe one hand isn't washing the other?!

After all the partnering and saving of money for the company, they kind of owe it to ALPA, don't they?

And as bad as they want to keep their boys in power positions they're actually making it that much harder. If you were even just slightly inclined to hear what DPA is offering before, this kind of action would definitely push you that much closer to printing a card, signing it, and putting it in the mail.
