The only PA's I do are the fasten seatbelts and prepare for takeoff. Most of the 75/76"s have seat back screens and they can see where they are for themselves on those or using the Delta app on their devices.

I "engage" my passengers with a boarding PA, I will pop my head out of the broom closet (737) to say hi to First Class if I have time, and give brief announcement with the seat belt sign.
You can't depend on the company, ALPA, or the Media to represent you. Why would you not want to put your best foot forward and represent yourself? I agree that constant PAs are annoying. I say let that highly reliable on-board entertainment and internet divert our pax. However, when IROP is the word of the day, I think communication with our passengers is the difference between a really crappy experience and a mildly annoying one. |

We don't need to know for the umpteenth time what our flight time is. We don't need to know the temperature in Pittsburgh. We don't need to know that we are flying over East Upchuck Wisconsin, home of the largest ball of twine. Do not tell me to sit back and relax, as if my seat will actually recline. And you can make my flight more enjoyable by shutting up and quit interrupting me with your idiotic, pandering PA's. I know you like to hear yourself talk Captain chatty, but I'm trying to watch a movie. The only time you should make a PA is if we have to evacuate. |
I love my passengers. They're great people. I treat them with respect. I love to fly them places.
And I love to let them sleep, read and relax in peace. |

Saw a DAL Capt. the other day "engaging" the passengers. He was walking around the boarding area, finding the children and pinning wings on them. Actually, it was kind of creepy since he seemed to target the little girls.
So it won't me. :D |

When I'm riding in the back, I detest listening to someone drone on for 5 minutes about nothing. Especially if I've got the live TV running. At least the movie stops. I treat my passengers the way I would like to be treated. Short and concise PAs
