Basic question that I had to ask...what is OE, how long does it last, and how is it scheduled? Is it known two weeks prior like the bidding schedule?
I am trying to let my family know what my schedule will be (generally) so I can flow out the next couple months. I understand it somewhat contextually, but just find myself scratching my head and wondering what comes after Indoc & Sims.
Thanks!

OE could be two days after last sim or longer (last year up to 6weeks) depending on LCA (line check airman) availability. Each fleet has different trip lengths but on average expect two four day trips and you will be offered a chance during Indoc/sims to let oe planner know of any life events like graduation or wedding that need to Sked around but other than that you are at the whim of oe scheduler.

For what it's worth, I personally know of three that have just went threw new hire training in the last two months and none have waited more than a few days for OE to start and all were OE complete within 14 or so days. That is ATL 88/ NYC 88 and NYC 717 fleets.
YMMV.
