The next text I'm going to get... "hey dude, I'm at the plane... where are you?" And I'm going to be like, this is just a rumor. I'm not answering.

Yes. Outstanding choice, even if you don't hit the 415c max. Every pilot should be doing this, as well as one for the wife.

To answer your question, meaningful profit sharing has been around for a small portion of my career (hence my resistance to going backwards). And like many pilots, I cannot explain every line item on my paycheck or statement. When a pay question arises, I need to do a little digging.

Maybe it hasn't changed from "day one," but some of us need a little help figuring it out. In my view, one thing changed this year. We received the JV scope settlement. I know why PS isn't paid on it: because the PS formula is written in a fashion that does not provide for it. Nonetheless, it's counterintuitive that a payment for lost wage earning opportunities is excluded from profit sharing.

I am "familiar" but not an expert. Again, info provided here is appreciated.
Employee Self Service.. My Pay and Taxes.. under Learn… Paycheck detail sample. Flight Pay plus Advance times 21% should be the number, otherwise you've had some unusual stuff or an error. Profit sharing doesn't earn profit sharing and DC excess funds don't either. Those are probably the 2 biggest mis-multiplications. OFG

No offense, but I find this statement to be very disturbing. How do you know that you are getting paid properly? Who is making sure it's right? The company? If you trust them with paying you properly, why not trust them with following the contract?

I may not know everything in the contract, but I absolutely know where every penny on my paycheck came from or went to. Call me paranoid, but I don't trust the company with my money. YMMV.

Serious question: how often have you found your pay to be in error from timecard to check? I check the timecard but after that it gets fuzzy.

Have I found an error from time card to check? Once. But I have found numerous times where time was getting shaved off of rotations. A few minutes here or there. That adds up. This was around the time of the merger. Granted, it hasn't happened in awhile, but I still check leg times.

Long time reader... Pretty much my first post. Quick question, this article addresses AA claiming the Venezuela write off as a special item write off. Aren't we going to write this exact same expense off as normal operating expense?? Curious as to what yalls thoughts are...

American Airlines writes off $592 million trapped in Venezuela | Reuters
I think a lot of Venezuelans got a ride to the US over the last few years and that the American based airlines have been taken for over $1Billion by the Venezuelan government.

Need to talk to an accountant but seems like it could have an impact on the profit sharing.
