Just an observation, but how come we seem to have these same posts every year from guys who aren't new hires? How long has the company been paying out PS? It hasn't changed since day one. I would think if you've been here more than a year, you'd be familiar with how it works.
Just an observation.......oh the places I could go with that as applied to sooooo much here at Delta

Google back door Roth if you want to consider some options for post tax money.

Thanks for the guidance to everyone who has provided it. My numbers still don't add up for some reason. But I'm closer to a valid figure. All that matters is what arrives on 2/12.

To answer your question, meaningful profit sharing has been around for a small portion of my career (hence my resistance to going backwards). And like many pilots, I cannot explain every line item on my paycheck or statement. When a pay question arises, I need to do a little digging.

Maybe it hasn't changed from "day one," but some of us need a little help figuring it out. In my view, one thing changed this year. We received the JV scope settlement. I know why PS isn't paid on it: because the PS formula is written in a fashion that does not provide for it. Nonetheless, it's counterintuitive that a payment for lost wage earning opportunities is excluded from profit sharing.

I am "familiar" but not an expert. Again, info provided here is appreciated.

As far as taxes/fees, I've always had about 37% withheld... that's the number I use and it gets me within a couple of hundred bucks of the actual in Feb....

If you're going for the cash to pay down debt... mortgage, college, etc.
