A possible path that doesn't get much air time:

1. The F/A's unionize

2. The company and the new union take years negotiating and cannot come to an agreement.

3. The F/A's go on strike and get locked out.

4. The strike fails because a very large percentage of the F/A's never wanted a union and cross the picket line.

5. Delta hires new F/A's.

I'm not saying that this would happen, but I believe it could.

Crandall tried that at American. Flight attendants destroyed him. Their numbers are simply too large. Even with a few thousand scabs.

Interesting fact: 20,000+ flight attendants are 30% of the domestic non-pilot workforce.

On the other hand, the TWA F/A's got massacred.

ok so going back to the catalyst for this hypothetical scenario: The PS checks that will be paid out in February 2017. The pilots may likely receive 23-25% checks while the FAs receive somewhere around 10%. What will the company do to avoid non-contract employee restlessness? Sounds like they'll be forced to trigger 3.b.4 with a pay raise?
