Quote[ Thank you OC and Steve for making me proud to take off any and all Delta flair and wear my ALPA pin!]

Disappointed OC, a former North guy, would bother himself with this show of solidarity by a unified group of pilots. He struck with us in 97/98. Now, here we are and where is OC ???

It would appear that he is securing his retirement.

Personally, I don't see how that could be of any use (from either the company's or our POV) for any sort of "blanket" slip request. For a trip-specific request (i.e., you know the report time, etc.), sure; but not for a "any trip that pops up" request....
Greenslips are always "same day/next day" coverage not "beyond next day coverage", and are worked manually. Thus you have to be "contacted" and "acknowledge" to get the trip. You have at least 10 minutes to acknowledge unless it is short notice < 3 hrs. Problem is, if you were unavailable by phone because you are flying or in the sim, you'd still get the call but wouldn't know it. Guys were leaving "notes" to scheduling saying to go ahead and acknowledge the trip anyway for them even though they did not answer the phone. And scheduling was doing this even though it was in no way official or written anywhere. It was unfair to the pilots that didn't have a "note" in or didn't even know they could leave a "note" to scheduling. Fact is, acknowledgment is specifically defined as personal contact or VRU/iCrew response. Not by "notes" or "voicemail" or having your spouse or anyone else acknowledge for you.

I mean, what if scheduling gave you a trip based on a "note" you left them but you were never aware of it and missed sign in. How could you get in trouble for a missed trip if you never officially acknowledged the trip in the PWA approved manner? What would scheduling say? "Well the pilot left me a note saying he would take any trip.... ahhhh".

Anyway. It's official now. You can auto acknowledge any trip "If on duty or in sim period" by "yes" checkbox for WS or GS for a trip that meets your PSC criteria. By the way, scheduling is defining "on duty" as anytime after sign in for a rotation including during your layover. Be advised.

Oh, and since this is a lanyard thread, the orange lanyard is detachable otherwise I'd probably not use it. Thank you JM. That is all...

Out of the 50 or so dudes in the ATL lounge, maybe 5 are wearing them.

I'll wear it until being told by a CP not to.

Then I'll put it in my pocket, and walk away.

Two minutes later, it will be back in place.

Mall cops......

Understood on all of that. I just don't see how "checking the box" solves the issue of actually knowing about the trip, and/or (in the case of a blanket request) actually being in position to take the trip.

This is going to result in some fireworks re missed trips, probably sooner rather than later....
