5:15 min day seems like it is a no-cost proposition that would help everybody. Instead of a 4 day trip that is 7 hours of block on day 1, 2, and 4 with a 30 hour layover on day 3 paying 21:00 it would pay 26:45. The company would hate that much credit so scheduling would figure out how to make us fly for 5:15 hours on day 3 instead of sitting in LFT. Seems like an even trade to me, company gets more productivity and I have to work fewer days to reach the ALV. I'm all for flying 3 busy trips instead of 4 inefficient ones to fill up each month.
But do you understand why the company schedules 30 hour layovers?

The ADG was nice progress from the old system that really shafted you for a 30 hour layover. It can always be better but I personally, would rather have the 5+15 ADG raised to 5+30 in TA16 rather than eliminate 30 hour layovers by either losing flying time or going to CDOs.

Unfortunately, you young grasshopper, chose to work for a company that has more fleet types than the Khardashians have shoes which is the cause of those 30 hr layovers. So be careful what you wish for because one solution the company has previously pushed for is the dreaded CDO where you only have 2 day trips - fly the last flight into LFT and the first one out and then done. The other option is that the company reduces frequency to avoid the late in and early out service which means less flying for us. It is a tightrope/balancing act.

Hey Ed, why do you want me to wear my uniform without an orange lanyard because it isn't consistent with the professional Delta brand image, when you promote the Delta pilot with this?

Really? That's a good image for pilots but an orange lanyard isn't? GMAB.
