This will remove dues paying members from ALPAs umbrella ultimately bankrupting ALPA. It will also demonstrate the value of a pilot because the Chinese carriers will be paying $350k for A319 pilots and $700k for 777 pilots. But, since Delta wont be flying widebodies, the higher scale wont matter. President Clinton, because China has thoroughly hacked her and bankrolled her, granted China full open sky rights to the US.

I could definitely see a time when the pay/benefits package at some Asian carriers becomes too lucrative to ignore. Work 5 years and retire. It may suck while you're there, but does it beat flying 99 hours a month for DL until 65 or 67? You bet it does. While US carriers bicker over nickels and dimes the China Easterns of the world recognize the importance of experience and expertise, and pay accordingly.

Don't tell Delta management you think they pay accordingly. You will kill us in contract negotiations!

I am of course being FOS in what I wrote. But, all of it could happen. While not a current DPA supporter, they get a lot of stuff right about ALPA national. What a ridiculous waste of money they have become.

Ha. Low ball offer. No wonder they can't fill the positions. Even offering seasonal contracts. Things are about to get desperate in the pilot staffing business. With all the new heavies they have coming, they will need to compete for an ever dwindling supply of experienced pilots. That's going to drive these gigs into the stratosphere as airlines scramble to avoid cancelling service and the resulting loss of revenue. Give it a year or three and take another look at what's available.

Hmm, we are retiring 747s and slowing the A350 "replacements." China Eastern is planning to expand wildly. Sounds like back in the day when we expanded AF/KAL alliance and DL immediately tried to cancel/defer our pathetic handful of 777 orders... as AF/KAL ordered A380, and huge fleets of 777 and 777-300. Is that about right? I'm really not seeing any plan by Delta to grow its Intl Fleet except thru a JV partner. I also think UAL and AMR are committing to China big time and plan to kick our arse in that arena. JMO, OFG

As far as I know, we just fly to PVG and PEK. American and United both fly to several other 20,000,000 person cities there. What you are saying is clearly true. China Eastern's US expansion is Delta widebody jobs.

China Eastern will receive 11 777s, 7 330s this year. They recently ordered 20 A350-900s and 15 787s. According to Bloomberg News.

Sure sounds like we're set up to be their domestic feed.
