China Eastern (NYSE:CEA) wants to increase the size of its fleet by over 40% to 800 aircraft by 2020, according to president Ma Xulun.
The investment in extra aircraft will be needed if the company's plan to expand traffic into the U.S. accelerates.
Delta Air Lines (NYSEAL) is a major codesharing partner with China Eastern and holds a 3.55% stake in the Asian carrier.

Ed Bastian is a China Eastern board member. He knew about this awhile ago. He also knows where this is going in the next few years. 1,3,5,10 year strategic business plans. The Chinese have them too and they are approved by their board.
