Default RLL Bid

New guy here. Read the scheduling reference handbook, and am still confused about RLL bid, being "unblockable", and if/how they're related.

It seems like if I am able to bid RLL, I could end up with 0 trips awarded?? Also, if unblockable and awarded reserve - I don't know how- you can drop your reserve schedule??

Thoroughly confused. Has anyone actually used this, and what are the pro's and gotchas?

Thanks

You would do far better to download the PBS Gouge, available from the link under this post, and start at p. 64, where the RLL discussion starts. It explains it in very good detail.

It's one of those bid functions that nobody can fully explains it's use. I was told by the pbs guys if you're within the posted number, AND if pbs couldn't produce a line for you(aka borderline line/reserve seniority), it could produce a "partial" line for you providing you coded properly. Again, a lot of variables to be met and I haven't met a single person who was awarded those lines.

You cant "bid" rll directly, as your primary bid, anymore. If pbs cant build you a line (unblockable) and you have an RLL bid in, it will try to build you an RLL prior to puting you on reserve.

The RLL can be worth zero up to somewhere in the mid 60s hours of credit.

Zero credit is a blank regular line and you will have to whiteslip your trips.

Thanks for the gouge point out. Makes since for the most part.

How do you "elect to be awarded a blank regular line?"

RLL is zero to 1 min. below the bottom of the LCW. (Line construction window). And yes, if you start your bid with zero time you could be awarded a RLL line with zero time.
