So shortly after I got my June award for a line, I tried to swap (with the pot) a trip within the last 6 days of the bid month. It got denied for "capped reserve days." It didn't make sense to me since the trips were exactly the same length.
I called Schdeuling, and they said you can't alter your last 6 days of June till the July bids are released in mid-June. Due to potential FAR 117 30/168.
I thanked them for explaining. Then I put in my swap with pot request, and figured I'd have to wait till June 17th (approximately).
Well somehow I got awarded one of my swap requests for June 29th already.
What's going on? What else don't I know?

I got a swap at the end of june. I plan to get another one for the trip I swapped for if we underfly block by 17 minutes on my trip at the beginning of June. Two fewer days flown for the same $$.
I believe you cant swap out of a spillover trip until the following schedules are out.
Put your trip on the swap board as a just take it and whiteslip the trip you want.

thank you. I'll keep trying the swap board. The problem is with the short staffing on the 88B; you can't drop days, and there are a lot of trips on the swap board as guys try to either lesson their schedules and/or GS.

Sounds like BS on the part of icrew/scheds. A week or so ago, I "swapped with pot" a 4-day on June 26th for a 4-day on June 28th with no problem at all. Maybe you just tried it too close to when the June awards had been finalized? I know I'm not the first to say that scheduling and IT at this place can be stunningly confusing.

I thought in order to swap it had to be beneficial to the company. You need to look at reserve coverage for each day and if there is less coverage on the days you are swapping for than the coverage on the days your current trip is over they will award it. That is the way it was explained to me.

Interesting hearing the other comments on how CS can "mis-speak."

I think there is a lot of turnover and thrash in CS right now. They screw up the PB days on over half my green slips requiring multiple calls to fix each one. They passed me for a GS a couple days ago and when I asked the 1st answer was 'you changed your GS too late'. I pointed out that my slip hadn't been modified in 36 hours and was modified to be more restrictive which shouldn't have had any effect on the GS award. Then they went to la-la land and decided that the trip had been bought by management for some unknown reason. The trip obviously hadn't been bought and what was more obvious is the scheduler did not want to talk to me about this. After quite a bit of time on hold, he finally told me he'd have to do some research and call me back. 30 minutes later the trip was on my line.
If I'd waited a little later I might have been paid for the trip without even flying it, but I wouldn't have received the PB days and it probably would've taken longer on the phone to unfornicate their errors than it took at fly the trip
.
Moral of the story is don't believe anything scheduling tells you; they might be right, they might be lying, or they might be making crap up in the hope you just go away.
