Bartels

Meh. Guys throw poo on here that they would never do in a face to face. "anonymity" and all that. I still make my own decisions based on the information I have in my possession. All the rest is noise.

I think that is my point, a guy will be cordial on the flight deck and an a$$ hat online. Surprisingly guys like curly and RH attach their name to it. Hubris.

Which is why pilots are smart enough to be cordial on the flight deck, CRM.

The funny thing is that Curly was at the September 2015 MEC meeting, and spoke to every rep there about the importance of electing Malone over Bartels.
Why? Was Curly setting him up, or did Curly want a chairman with an actual record of success as a negotiator?
As opposed to Bill, whose record consists of living in San Diego while flying out of New York while "representing" Detroit pilots, feathering his own nest in the targeted DC plan, backstabbing Bill Dolloway, walking out of the JCBA negotiations (a petty move that cost us $250 million), squealing like a pig when Anderson told him he was turning this airline into Northwest, and voting against his own direction to negotiators on about a dozen occasions.
One. Trick. Pony.
Council 44 was of a "pottery barn" frame of mind on day one of that meeting, and inclined to stick Billo with the accountability he has avoided through every day he has been on the MEC; by day two they were firmly behind Malone as the only candidate who could actually serve the interests of the membership. They knew that Bartels was just a purely political animal who remains incapable of closing a deal. Too bad you killed off Malone's support on the MEC with those purges last year.
This week's chairman's letter shows a retreat by the admin. Malone has given up on reality for a while, and maybe we will revisit market forces, BATNA, and slow walks through fantasyland after we are parked by the NMB in September. No one has the stones to tell the Orange Crush anything it doesn't want to hear, and according to Bartels, anyone who won't wear the orange is now OFFICIALLY ostracized by this union, dis-invited from taking part in informational picketing.
Oh, so they don't represent everybody? They only represent the pilots who voted for them? What's next? Loyalty oaths, perhaps?
When freedom of expression and dissent are banned in this way, as Council 20 has done in their latest update, it makes my decision not to wear the lanyard more about moral conscience than personal distaste for the anti-intellectual mob that is driving us off a cliff. It is now a symbol of repression and fear, not unity.
Anyone who pays dues here has the absolute right to participate in the full spectrum of membership. Anyone who would quash dissent has given up the democratic principles that are the bedrock of trade unionism. What's more, this sort of discrimination is illegal as hell. I know the reps are trolling APC during their meeting this week, and I am begging them here to FIX THIS MESS. Ever heard of LMRDA, you worthless hacks?
Go ahead and call me a Moakie. You clowns are out of scapegoats, and before you even got to Section 3. Poorly played.

Malone was the clear choice over Bartels.
It appears as though Harwood and his waterboys are the ones hellbent on having a scapegoat for their failure with blaming Bartels, not the other way around.
