I heard the onboard GPS didn't play nicely with the Jepp software. One of the 737 big-wig check guys was testing the Bad Elf Bluetooth GPS receiver and he said we could be getting them soon. I'm not holding my breath. (But for $150 on Amazon, I have heard they work really well for taxi situational awareness.)

What's up with Apple fans always comparing an Ipad to a Surface with 2GB of memory with fake windows.
How about you compare it to the Surface with an i7 processor, 16GB of memory, and a full operating system. If Delta goes with a Surface 3 with 4GB of memory and a atom processor, I would hardly call that the Surface's fault or a true comparison of what the Surface can do. At a minimum, they should be getting a Surface 3 with 8GB of memory and a i3 processor, otherwise you will see the system bog down.

Keeping it simple is why the iPad is better, I'm not a fan of Apple at all, and there is no doubt the surface is more capable, however, I am not typing up business reports, or editing graphics in flight. I do however, need an APP that was originally written for iOS to work as well as possible.

Plus I would rather carry around one device that can do everything that two devices can. Until Ipads start running full IOS, I don't see how the ipad can even come close to what the benefits of what a decent spec Surface can do.
They failed to consider the lowest common denominator. While I have no doubt the MS product has more capabilities, you also have to have more computer skills to unlock those capabilities. Sometimes more skills just to get the damn thing unlocked, period. Ipads are more "pilot proof". Even a Marine can use an Ipad.

Like I said, a Surface with fake windows and 2GB of memory will cause that. There are Surfaces with 16GB of memory and i7 processors.

I get your point though, so I will rephrase, the iPad is the best for what the company is willing to pay for.

Until the ipad comes out with full IOS, I don't see how you can fully compare the two since all of the Surfaces post-Surface 2 RT run full Windows 10. Unless Delta runs all of its software on ipad only capable devices, the Surface with a full operating system will be much more useful to them.
I don't understand why Apple fans love their philosophy. Wouldn't you rather have your ipad be your ipad+macbook? Why would you want to carry around 2 things when you would only have to carry around 1.
So far the Surface Book is the best use of both worlds. https://www.microsoftstore.com/store...ctID.325716000

Can you get me one? Mine locks, freezes, runs hotter than a wh%#@ in church. At least Delta has MS as a client.
