It is possible to bluetooth gps off a phone with surprising accuracy. Tends to eat the battery, but a lot cheaper than a bad elf

How about you compare it to the Surface with an i7 processor, 16GB of memory, and a full operating system. If Delta goes with a Surface 3 with 4GB of memory and a atom processor, I would hardly call that the Surface's fault or a true comparison of what the Surface can do. At a minimum, they should be getting a Surface 3 with 8GB of memory and a i3 processor, otherwise you will see the system bog down.
Keeping it simple is why the iPad is better, I'm not a fan of Apple at all, and there is no doubt the surface is more capable, however, I am not typing up business reports, or editing graphics in flight. I do however, need an APP that was originally written for iOS to work as well as possible.

They failed to consider the lowest common denominator. While I have no doubt the MS product has more capabilities, you also have to have more computer skills to unlock those capabilities. Sometimes more skills just to get the damn thing unlocked, period. Ipads are more "pilot proof". Even a Marine can use an Ipad.

I'm not sure how typing business reports is relevant to a Jepp application running well on a device. A surface with 2GB of memory will run worse than an ipad, however, one with a i5-i7 processor and 8GB-16GB will run much better. All you need to do to run a Jepp application on a Surface is to click the program just like you would on an ipad. Should I have said 'app' instead though, much simpler than 'program'

Plus I would rather carry around one device that can do everything that two devices can. Until Ipads start running full IOS, I don't see how the ipad can even come close to what the benefits of what a decent spec Surface can do.

How does it get any more simpler than clicking on the Jepp application on the main screen? Isn't that the exact same thing the ipad does?

Sounds like you've never had to reboot yours at a critical time. Lucky you

I've had a frozen ipad at a critical time, your point being?

Like I said, a Surface with fake windows and 2GB of memory will cause that. There are Surfaces with 16GB of memory and i7 processors.

Yes, and that model is $1800, the air 2 is about $500. $1800 is too much to spend to not have a dedicated GPU.

I get your point though, so I will rephrase, the iPad is the best for what the company is willing to pay for.

Surface with 16GB and i7 is a completely different comparison in terms of functionality, so of course it will be much more expensive, but you would still be better off with a Surface 3 Pro i5 with 8GB for $1000.

Until the ipad comes out with full IOS, I don't see how you can fully compare the two since all of the Surfaces post-Surface 2 RT run full Windows 10. Unless Delta runs all of its software on ipad only capable devices, the Surface with a full operating system will be much more useful to them.

I don't understand why Apple fans love their philosophy. Wouldn't you rather have your ipad be your ipad+macbook? Why would you want to carry around 2 things when you would only have to carry around 1.

So far the Surface Book is the best use of both worlds. https://www.microsoftstore.com/store...ctID.325716000

With a non-jailbroken iPhone? I can't even get the two to get a consistent Bluetooth connection at all.

Can you get me one? Mine locks, freezes, runs hotter than a wh%#@ in church. At least Delta has MS as a client.
