Is "offsets" another word for cost-neutral? Why must we trade one for one?

Shouldn't we dedicate ourselves to improvements in every section?

Because the process demands that both sides negotiate and attempt to address perceived needs. If we are unwilling to do that the process will lock us out of anything.
You do have to make your case that a need is realistic and justified. Fail to do that and the NMB can and should side with the opposition.
That is one of the biggest parts of negotiations.

Why do they NEED:

Profit sharing concessions?
Virtual Basing?
Scope Concessions?
Sick Leave Concessions?
3b4 Concessions?

Sorry. I just don't see any operational requirement for any of this. Why are we even talking this crap?

The only operational requirement I could possibly (and I'm don't see it) is how to squeeze more new hires through the pipeline. If any relief is given, it must be sunset on the PWA amendable date.

If you look at the jaw-dropping amount of profit Delta diverts to stock buybacks and then determine management's "needs" are "realistic and justified", you should have your head examined!

Is sunsetting a thing??? I don't recall a single sunsetting measure in TA1 or any of the AIPs. I've heard plenty of talk about things we wished we had sunsetted - are there some historic examples of using this successfully for pilot benefit?

Somehow you have your role with the company confused. You are a line on a expense report. Nothing more or less. You're labor that is sadly shackled by the RLA. You are forced to negotiate via the NMB. You can spend 10 minutes on google and learn a lot about how that process works. Realistic and justified in the eyes of the NMB have nothing to do with the items you post.

Ahhh. Good to know. For a moment there (see: QCQ training about JD Power), I thought the company needed more out of me than FOM compliance to keep the money trees growing. Occasionally I need a reminder like yours or the company's Section 3 proposal to shape my understanding and filling of my role in the cockpit.

10 minutes is up. I learned a little, but nothing along the lines of assessing needs. If you have a reference to point me to, I'd be most appreciative.

Google zone of reasonableness and also take a look at American when they tried to leapfrog the rest of the industry by 30%.
