Quote: Mike, my understanding from my rep is that some of the Aip's will need to be altered. As far as the sick leave, I believe most of the push back is with the elimination of self verification. I am quite sure the company would like to eliminate the spike in sick calls in May and June so the rolling 12 months is probably going to stay.
The company can fix that by resetting each pilot on their anniversary date. No concession needed.

Obviously, and agreed insofar as it would "eliminate the spike."

However, company won't do that--they WANT the June reset, so that pilots ("abusers" and otherwise) will husband their sick leave early in the sick leave year--i.e., the summer.

Quote: Word on the street is that the reps are only hearing from a minority of the pilot group. In other words many of us are not voicing our opinions to those that represent us.

Whatever your views on the AIPs are, please convey those to your reps. It only takes a few minutes of your time to email your council reps. Better yet, call them, it's their job to listen to your concerns and opinions.

These message boards are great for gathering information and exchanging ideas, but at the end of the day things on this board will not change the reps opinions. Messages to your reps will!

If you're venting on APC and Chit Chat and not to your reps, you're doing it wrong!

This is a comical quote...been paying union dues to ALPA for 27 years plus. Not once has a rep EVER listened to my input. They put that in all the publications "give your reps you input" but when that actually happens
they spend the entire time telling that you are wrong & giving you their opinion instead. It will never change.

We should be fighting to get rid of all verification, not figuring out how much more we're willing to accept.

27 yrs! I wonder how much money you yourself have contributed to ALPA! And then consider what you havent gotten in terms of service from the union. I imagine its thousands and when you break it down in that manner many more would be more likely to seek greener pastures with a different union.

Exactly. They use the APR-MAY spike as evidence of abuse but they actually benefit from it and don't want it spread out over the full year. That would hurt them in the JUN-JUL-AUG period.
