Backup systems are expensive. Especially when we're lighting 7 Billion + on fire as quickly as possible for absolute zero long term ROI. Meanwhile some gates still have inadequate air, some air hoses are full of holes, we're putting 30 year old beaters with no entertainment (or AC half the time) on identical routes in crucial markets where our competition offers a new and vastly superior product and the most critical labor group is being threatened to shut up and take any deal even a concessions laden one, otherwise the company will hide behind the NMB, pay us less than an ultra bottom feeding airline's rates and steal 3% a year from us with no COLAs or retro.

You mean we can't compete with a 30 year old MD88 against a a brand new AA A320 or a brand new SWA B737??? Nonsense! Those birds have plenty of life in them...does it really matter if the APU is inop 1/2 of the time, one of the packs isn't working, or if there's no entertainment whatsoever? All nonsense! How are we supposed to pay executive bonuses around here if we're spending money on the employees and new airplanes?
