$120 Million - Delta outage

"Delta Air Lines will take an estimated $120 million operating loss and will likely become 'more humble' after last week's computer outage, says Cowen & Co. analyst Helane Becker"
The fiasco last week cost Delta $120 million, which means it will cost us (the employees) $24 million of our profit sharing (20% tier).
Will anyone get the axe over this? I doubt it. All those executives at the top just pat each others backs. I mean...did anyone get canned for losing billions in fuel hedges? I guess if retirement and over $80 million from Delta stock sales in a 180 day period is getting canned then yes. Right Richard?
Any employee that would have made a mistake which amounted in a loss of 0.1% of what last week's fiasco cost Delta would have been shown the door. But hey...all is well at the fambly!

Delta IT explained that the server they use for the SFO area has a known issue where it causes users who log into DeltaNet in that area to lose authorization. It was fun trying to login to change flights late on Friday night and was told "Please contact your manager to reset your password." Unfortunately, my "manager" does not work on the weekends, so no travel benefits for me. The IT person who eventually fixed it told me just try not to use the website why I'm in SFO

Had we not lost what we did on the fuel hedges the past 4-5 years and had we invested on decent technology just think of how much more money Delta would have on hand. They could actually offer a great health insurance plan for free for all employees and their families for several years. Instead we're left with these high deductible, high premium plans that are the worst in the industry.
