Default Strike vote question

Now that the NMB has canceled further negotiations, what is the timeline for 30 day cooling off, strike vote, etc? Just curious if we are close to being released, or just in an indefinite holding pattern. Thanks!

Indefinite hold.

There is a potential for more meetings in a couple weeks.

...or not. There is an equal chance of none. Management will be motivated when there is an economic reason to be.

Next is a strike vote. Then we seek release. Then it is up to the mediator.

The MEC can at any time authorize a strike vote.

I think we're years away from that, probably much closer to a TA than a strike vote. But like you, I represent .00007% of the Delta pilots. What do I know?

I believe there is a regularly scheduled MEC meeting starting on Monday. I don't believe it is directly TA related but I bet they can free up some time.

You are correct!

From C48 update:

DELTA MEC MEETING IN ATLANTA NEXT WEEK

Your MEC has its third-quarter regularly scheduled meeting next week, Monday through Friday in Atlanta. The location is:

Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel & Conference Center
500 Powder Springs St.
Marietta, GA 30064

During a regularly scheduled meeting, the agenda is filled with normal business. This mainly consists of receiving briefings from our administration and most of our key committees. For example, the treasurer’s report on the budget, the Scheduling Committee report, Retirement and Insurance Committee report, etc.

Since the MEC is the board of directors for our union, we receive a high level overview on all areas of ALPA business. Many of these reports and data points may not be of great interest to a large share of the line pilots, particularly in light of negotiations; however, it’s part of our normal duties to receive the quarterly briefings and gain awareness for all business.

There is time scheduled with our Negotiating Committee. We expect to receive more details about the last round of bargaining in Baltimore. There will be an opportunity to give revised direction; however, we don’t expect any earth-shattering breakthrough until we receive an indication that management is willing to make material progress toward a deal congruent with our polling data, so as to be strongly ratified with our members.

If anyone wants to stop by for the open portions of the meeting, or meet for dinner at night, please let one of us know. We will provide an update at the next opportunity and will let you know what, if anything, develops. That will likely be next week during the meeting (if practical), or during the week that follows the meeting.

To be fair, how many 46% paycuts and loss of retirements did they go through?
