Who are you referring to?? There must be 100M in the USA alone if we are one of the few without holiday pay. I have a brother who is an M.D. and another who is an attorney. My wife is in business and none of them know anything about this allegedly pervasive holiday pay you speak of.

Excessive exaggerating Doesn't Persuade Anyone of your side of the argument.

If they work over a weekend or holiday, do they charge additional fees for service outside of normal office hours?
Or are they just not available?

That's the beauty of the airline business. One man's trash is another man's treasure. When I was hired (99) I was told I'd be a Captain in 4-5 years. Well....here I am 17 years (and 2 furloughs) later, still a FO and not even in the top 25%. Why do you ask? Because I'm not moving and not commuting to NY.

None of the three ever work Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Nor do I. I am right at 50% in my category and always get both holidays off.
Personally, I am not in favor of spending negotiating capital on extra pay for 3-4 holidays each year for 1/2 of the seniority list. I would rather that money was spread evenly across the board.

Does the M.D. have the ability to write him/herself a note when they are sick? Just curious.

Unless you were hired in that last 6 months you have that ability also. I have a friend who is a ER doc. Who works the holidays is determined by seniority. Docs are also on reserve all the time. They are tied to their cellphones and where I live have to be able to report to the hospital for emergencies in 60 minutes. Days on reserve for each surgical specialty are done by seniority type system

I also have a friend who is an MD. He worked his way through medical school as an actor in porn films. I asked him if his previous occupation had any adverse effects on his career in medicine. He said only once in a while, when he's giving someone on a shot. Sometimes at the last second he pulls the needle out and sprays it all over them.
