How many JV settlement checks do you think this TA cost the company?

Nothing we can do about that now. We can however get some of those back by shutting down VBs and TDY.

Isn't it a little more complicated than that though?
What costs pilot jobs is when Delta chooses to not fly airplanes. They have violated scope in the past and all we got was a measly check as a settlement. Ie., an arbitrator, mediator, or judge won't order Delta to put jets in the air, they will just order them to pay us money.
Tanker said he wanted to buy back scope first and I get it. But, I also get the impression that there are many people out there that think that by putting some percentage in a contract it will make Delta have to comply with it.
They don't. The could decide not to comply, litigate the issue, lose, and pay out settlement after settlement. How many settlements was the retro checks we just got worth? My math says about ten.
If we had turned down the TA, Delta, the grandmaster chess players that they are, could have paid out 5 settlements and run to the bank with the extra money, laughing all the way.
I think we should see what happens before we decide to make any strategic moves to shut down VB's and TDY.
But that's just me and what do I know? I'm just a line pilot who is probably overthinking things. I should stick to what I do best, which is watch movies.

Speaking of movies, it's time for some Star Wars Rogue One action! I've got seats for the 330pm show! C-ya.

There's another available remedy besides money though. He could order management to take our code off the appropriate number of Air France flights and quit selling tickets for them until the production balance is back in compliance with the contract.
That's what would get management's attention. Hit their precious "network".
They probably just laughed at us last time when Donatelli and Phinney agreed to settle for a measly check. They'll take that deal any day.

Every give in SCOPE costs jobs. My only objective is to recover those jobs, when and where we can. VBs and TDY need to be shut down period. Our own NC published the number lost. We have the power to regain them, why wouldn't we? What would management do?
Buying back SCOPE is completely unrealistic for two reasons.
1) It's not for sale. And even if it was it wouldn't be until 2019.
2) We can't afford it. Management got what they needed to continue the Virtual Merger business plan to outsource jobs. What would be the dollar value placed on the reversal of a proven efficient and profitable future for Delta?

But he can make them stop buying them for our international "partners".
If we enforce the contract. Big if.
We've never tried that. We've always re-negotiated and conceded.
Maybe Bartels will be different.

Huh?
We allowed Delta to enter into a code share with Alaska. Alaska didn't play well, so the company grew aggressively in SEA and across Alaska's routes.
I believe we increased jobs as a result.
Not arguing. Trying to point out that the people running the company are predictable. They pursue revenue, and they won't let our JV/code partners hurt our revenue.
Delta's agreements with our partners provide for the lion's share of the revenue to the company with the butt in the seat.
