. OK, but you have to dive down a little farther for the true result... According to PPU, they have 70% of VA pilots behind them. (Other sources put the PPU number at 50% - 60% of eligible VA pilots) . [ see DPA "wish numbers" for how this works] If only 80% of PPU turned out, then only 56% actually voted. (80% of the 70% of members) Of the 56% who voted, only 87% were in favor. Equals only 48.72% of all VA pilots. Fewer than half. If the true number of PPU represented pilots (50-60%) is used, the affirming total is much lower. . I am underwhelmed by that total. And seeing how it is, at best, a slowdown and NOT a strike, it does not seem to have an overwhelming level of support, even among VA piloits. Why should we get out panties in a knot over it? . |

Why can't they hold an election to see who their union will be. Why the job action? Sounds like sour grapes.
|
They can have more than 1 union. Oxymoron I know, but it's allowed. VA management says they will only bargain with 1 and that is BALPA until otherwise confirmed that PPU has support of the class. A work action that is effective is how they can prove support. This is not our fight. An all out strike would not be supported by the members but a work to rule campaign might, thereby showing that PPU has the majority of the support. BALPA is calling for no change hoping support favors them. This is just how it's done in jolly ole England.

It's normal business for unions in the UK to do this.....the difference this time is they now have a 49% owner in the U.S. that can add extra sections to offset the slowdown. The fact we have added as many extra sections as we have tells you that the PPU has some support or Delta wouldn't need to add the extra sections. |

From what i've seen it looks like an extra 767 out of BOS, a 777 out of ATL, and an A330 out of DTW. |

Last I checked, this is a public forum. You're welcome to stop coming here if DALFA's posts upset you. The last time I checked, I didn't give a rat about the opinions of flight attendants with regard to our industrial issues. Let me check one more time... ...nope, still don't care, but it's a good thing I checked. How about those wretched little letters this week? First we got one from Malone, laying out why the DPA is wrong, and how the PPU's feces throwing contest isn't actually a job action. Then we get this weird letter today, signed by all the reps, first hinting at corruption and deceit, and then saying that there is none to be found. It's weird because the reps usually get 24 hours to weigh in on every chairman's letter, so anyone who is paying attention can tell that our so-called leadership is getting distracted over a sorry little DPA talking point. These are the fruits of pandering, and get used to them. |
The threat is real.
DPA is just 4,000 votes short of getting a vote. (Not winning. Just to get the vote.) They only need 60 cards per day to meet their deadline. Easy peasy. |
