Default MoF's New Space Exhibit

The Museum of Flight is opening a new Space Exhibit on Sunday. Ahead of that, on Saturday, there is a gala where men have to wear tuxedos before being allowed entry. There are many space big wigs (including the Apollo types, wink wink) already in town getting all pumped up. This article from the PI interviews Richard Gordon, a local boy done good. I think it may be time to visit the MoF again!

If you are into outdoors and hiking then Chirico trail or Pilot's trail is a great hike at Tiger Mountain. Total of 4 miles, it takes you to the launching place for Paragliding. Once you are at the top the views of Seattle are amazing. On a windy day you can park your car at the bottom of the trail and watch people land their gliders.

Default Thai and Baseball

Check out Thai Tom's on University Way (aka "The Ave"). Cheap, always packed with mostly students, and by far the best Thai I've ever had. My recommendation: Swimming Rama.

Take in a baseball game at the beautiful SafeCo Field...you shouldn't have any problem getting tickets. Enjoy America's favorite past time while sipping on a Mac and Jack's, snacking on garlic fries, listening the trains as they pass.

Default Bahn Thai?

Have you been to Bahn Thai? I was pretty impressed with their food when I went the other day. I believe its at 5th Ave and Mercer.

Default Mt. Rainier

This might be called "piling on," but I'm not doing that really. I was out driving and my cheap camera failed me in the way it did not for my strawberry patch pictures. So, I found this similar picture from the newspaper, obviously taken by a better person than myself.

I live right by the Boeing Plant in Everett and I haven't seen this place this busy in years. Everyday there is a new 777 (mostly Air Canada now) sharing the pattern with a 172. The tours is amazing and you might catch a glimpse of the 787. There is a new museum where the tour starts. It's not bad. You get to sit in a 727 and realize how lucky you are to have a glass cockpit. However, it does look like a real pilots cockpit.
On top of the museum there is an observation deck about 100 yards from the runway threshold. Perfect viewing location for watching the new aircraft launch.

If you have a full day you can drive up to my hometown of Bellingham, WA and visit the historic Fairhaven district.
I second the trip to Vancouver Island to visit Victoria. That is one of my favorite cities in the world. Very nice.
