This isn’t the place where you can get a preferred aircraft from the recruiter and wait until that airplane is available. If they do start a training freeze for new hires, it won’t start til January 1st at the earliest and will only be 18 months from Date of Hire, and will allow aircraft changes for a brand new base.
Can you go into more detail about this 18 month freeze for new hires? What does it entail?

Cheers,
G

Your frozen on aircraft (not base) for 18 months. So if you were on the 200 then your on the 200 for 18 months. The freeze doesn't affect you if you upgrade or if a new base opens that wasn't available when you first bid for your aircraft assignment.

The freeze is attached to the agreement currently being debated. So if the agreement is approved, the freeze would become effective Jan 1, 2018. It would prevent switching of aircraft for 18 months except for upgrade or if a new base opens up.

That being said, for all the Pros and Cons in this TA, the pilot group consensus is “meh” at best.

I see. Thanks for the clarification.

Don't forget the freezer is retroactive, anyone here less than 18 months is immediately frozen on January 1. Which is funny, because they can't vote on it....

There are roughly 300 voters who will be effected by the freeze to one degree or another - from 7 days to 4 months of possible freeze. If you are worried about the freeze being retroactive, you can bid on the next vacancy to your preferred aircraft, union says it should be in mid November. The freeze only applies retroactively to positions awarded after Jan 1.

Default Atlanta

Which plane will get you to Atlanta quicker? Also, which assignment will minimize reserve time. I'm new and am a little confused with what is being posted. Thanks

Bear in mind I am using an uncalibrated crystal ball here, but I don't foresee many more 200 hew hires. The past few classes have all been 900.

You will have the least amount of time on RSV in NY, but I'll let someone up there tell you whether JFK or LGA is better.

If the TA goes through, aren't LGA and JFK going to be treated as one base?
