Questions from a high time CP
#1
Hey folks,
Considering Endeavor in order to stay in ATL or at least get back to ATL after the xjt loss of Delta flying. I have a few questions and greatly appreciate any help.
1. Does Endeavor hire street Captains?
2. What is the story on the MSP base? Is it closing? How many pilots will be displaced if it does close?
3. What is the commuter policy, in a nutshell.
4. Is new hire training done in the 200 or 900?
5. What is the most junior base?
Thanks,
An old guy

2. Only the CRJ200 base is closing in MSP and when it does that will probably result in around 100-120 pilots being displaced.
3. Call in honest policy. Give yourself two viable flights to get to your base (i.e. aren't oversold, get you in base at least 45 prior to the start of your flight, etc.). If you can't get on the first one you call crew scheduling and they MAY get you a positive space ticket on your next attempt.
4. Currently all new hires are training on the 900 but I imagine they will start splitting the classes again soon.
5. NYC is probably the most junior and will stay that way. ATL is too new to make any predictions on what will happen there.
You guys are in a really crappy situation which I have nothing but respect for. 9E isn't a bad place to work. You obviously have previous 121 time so in theory you could apply to become a CA on the first vacancy while you are working here but that would also require the 9E to waive some restrictions that are in place.

Flogger, we had some XJT and Air Whiskey guys start last December and are already CAs here. Just flew with an XJT guy the other day, real good dude. He was on the UA side, but said he saw the handwriting on the wall and came to us.
Last vacancy, company time (1,000) and TT (2,500) were not waived as they have been in the past. It all comes down to the company having enough folks each vacancy. If not, they waive those two numbers down as low as necessary.
If you do decide to slide over here, hit me up for a referral, and I'll give the whole after-taxes amount to you.

The year 1 money is not a huge concern for me as I saw this coming and set my family up for it.
My concerns are mostly about getting back to Atlanta and perhaps back into the left seat ASAP.
So, where is training, how long is new hire training, is there an abbreviated course for prior 121 guys and how is the training department?
Again-thanks in advance.

I've been in that scenario before. We hired like crazy right up to the furlough. Such is life in the minor leagues.

I know they where trying to get a shorter course for guys with CRJ types, but not sure if is up and running yet. The training department is great if you put in the work and come prepared for each lesson. The length depends on how long the break is from ground to Sims. Average is 2 months. As far as ATL out of training, no one yet, but when this vacancy closes we might see some slots open for new hires.
One more thing, I remember them sending new hires home for about a week to self study general subject's via computer.
Hopefully someone who has been through more recently can chime in as well.

Thanks everyone. I am just trying to prepare my family in case I am lucky enough to get hired.
I'm sure others on this board have questions. I am asking here because I would rather not appear presumptuous to the recruiting department. If they're on this board they most likely know who I am. I don't think any other ASA old guys are making this move. At least not yet.
Most Captains can't afford the first year FO pay. If they start hiring street Captains that would quickly change in droves, but I doubt that will happen as long as the new hire FO program fills seats.
If anyone knows a better source to be asking these questions, please point me in that direction.
Do flight benefits kick in while in training?
Who manages the 401K?
Does the company enroll you in CASS right away so you are able to Jumpseat while in training?
