Yes. Usually three per seat per day in NYC. (JFK at least, unsure about LGA, and unsure how they’ll do it with codomicile). Picked in reverse seniority order. Limited to 3 times in a block of reserve and 10 times per month. Duty while on airport reserve is 8 hours.

FWIW, I had the seniority as an FO to completely avoid airport reserve after 2-3 months.

Contractually, they're limited to 3 ready reserve pilots per positions per domicile. So NYC is the real winner on that, going from 3 in JFK and 3 in LGA to 3 in NYC.

With the current 900 fo coverage in NYC (100 or so in March) most guys there will only sit ready reserve 3 or 4 times total before holding a line...

just remember that can change on a moments notice... there are pilots here that sat more ready in their time here than some will spend here from hire to quit.

Default Not good?

Looking at the mock bids, I am not so sure this NY co domicile is a good thing for we pilots. CDOs are the biggest issue having now to cover both airports. That will be brutal and may increase sick, and/or fatigue calls. Honestly, of all the things FAR 117 got rid of, Standups were not one of them.

Scenario for people choosing a regional; Show at 8pm, go to Canadia, customs both ways. Fly back early. Try to sleep in your crashpad, during the day for min rest. Next night, go to, GET YOURSELF NOW, to LGA, rinse-repeat next night. Thirteen of these in a month. Yes, people in my class, are starting to quit. Airport reserve is another contention. People, mostly new to the regionals, are NOT digging the crashpad, airport reserve, CDO, multi airport coverages now. Don’t forget Newark. It’s on them but you will still have to go and EWR, well, sucks.

Point, the devil is in the details. The New York base will not be fun for new people. I think ATL, and maybe even DTW, will go real senior.

Rant finished.

You don’t have to fly CDOs. I bid prefer reserve over forced CDO line. Is covering both JFK and LGA really that bad when most peoples crashpads are in Kew halfway in between? I agree the airport reserve thing is an issue. I’ve seen it used a lot more in the last month than any time last year.

People in your class are quitting? Care to elaborate? How many and when was your class?

I'm sorry, who said you had to cover EWR? Good practical joke? Jfk and lga only man. Company gets you to EWR if they need you there. And also... Bid avoid CDO's. Problem solved. Bid reserve first out. You'll do great!
