There's no payroll deduction for the company ipad but if you bring your own they will give you a monthly stipend (I think it's like $40). If I already had a qualifying ipad I might consider it. For me, I didn't have one and I really don't like to mix company and personal so I only use my ipad for company (though we do have an LOA with the company protecting our privacy on company ipads I wouldn't bet my career on it.)

As for gen 2 ipads I suspect if we're not going to own them then the company and the union will need to amend the EFB letter of agreement.

$17 a month before taxes, given every other paycheck. Tried it for a while but it was silly, so I switched to the company provided device.

Yes. Take the company iPad. Not the stipend It barely covers the actual cost of the iPad, and you're supposed to get your own insurance on it. I.E. you have to pay to replace it if you break it. If you break the company iPad they have apple care or some equivalent on them.

And it's unclear what happens if the company goes to new iPads while you're on the stipend. The stipend may end and you're stuck holding the bag for the remainder of the cost of that iPad when they give you the new company mandated one.

This 100%, especially when your iPad falls out of a holder that someone bent the wrong way. You have to take it to an Apple Store yourself, but they'll replace it under AppleCare.

I've seen like two people put an iPad into the mount with a cover on it. squeeze it in there. Then point at it and go, " look it fits!" Yea except for the next guy.... Thanks for bending the crap out of the plastic
