Quote: 190 and 717 are way better jets than the CRJ. Modern avionics, VNAV and Autothrottles.

If any mainline carrier were to get a smaller jet, I’d assume it would be something they could order new like the 175. Remember the 175 is artificially limited to scope weight, and can be delivered heavier for greater payload and range. If you’re going to have mainline pilots fly it, might as well use the most capable jet.

E2-175 would be better; next gen engines, 4 more seats to spread costs over. Downside is it’s a paper airplane for the foreseeable future.
The GTF engine's $5-$10 million premium per airplane, just isn't worth it for short legs. Extending the 717, and getting more A220s would be the best move. Also, getting a cheaper engine option on the A220 would also work.

Quote: I’m sure that is an entirely acceptable solution to you, but for the military and potential OTS hires from other regionals, not so much.
There’s a lot of “daddy if you bought me a 100k Tesla we’re both helping save the environment! It makes total sense! Win for everyone!”

Quote: ”Omg” really! What are you 16 years old. It doesn’t matter to me, Just trying to give a solution to the problem.
No you’re pushing a solution that benefits YOUR best interest. You think Ed cares more about you or the investors? How would the finical guru’s take what you’re begging for? Delta’s not acquiring anything except more unessary costs. Spin it how you want that’s the truth. It does hurt their hiring metrics, but that’s not a big issue imo.

Anyways, I hope you’re able to get something done that helps your career progression, best of luck.

My original reply was only directed at your constant begging, and “this is the only solution” no, plenty of solutions that would not be to your benefit, you’re just seeing what you want to see.

Quote: That may be but bottom number at delta is still a really good gig and being a couple years up on pay is an amazing thing. If people are going to leave because they want better seniority then theres no reason to do anything. Delta isnt putting on a **** ton of nb or wb positions like united is, so forget about it. What delta and edv management and edv alpa is saying is: most of the people want to goto delta, but the wait and uncertainty is making them jump to jetblue/spirit and then to delta... So lets fix that.

Secondly as to complaints from other posters mil and other regional guys wont goto delta because they "might have to fly an RJ". F them, dont come then. Ive already been in a new hire class at delta with mil guys and other regional guys. If you dont want to be at delta because youre not going to be senior enough, united is hiring, and theres a line out the door of people that want the job at delta and can be happy. You come to delta, the closest youll get to a real widebody job for a decade is the ER. Theres a reason its junior equipment. Oh and without profit sharing its just another airline for a while, love it or leave it. Plan accordingly.
Your 100% correct. Having a RJ on the list will not have any negative effects on hiring, in fact it might be the opposite. #1 easier transition #2 faster upgrade time #3 better schedule along with pretty good hourly pay. 2nd year 900 CA pay $168+ Compared to 2nd year A321 FO pay $141+

Good guess, like I said it doesn’t matter to me. I’ve been here going on 15 years and received my flow letter already which I am very grateful for. So there is no begging involved. Best of luck in your career progression son

While I would like to agree with you that's just not true. I unfortunately have heard numerous times that people want to go to ual and AA instead of Delta because of the fleet composition, wide-bodies, route structure, and age of fleet. All things that I personally think are ridiculous reasons to choose a major. There would absolutely be pilots who would be turned off from Delta at the prospect of having to fly an RJ... From regional guys thrilled to be out of the rat race, to military guys wanting the cushy mainline job. They exist and that kind of thing would sway their thought process

You have a point, but I think for every one person that thinks that way, there’s two people that don’t care.

Quote: That's the issue, FO's will be sitting around not getting time as the captain list shrinks. I can see them offering TOWOPs for FO's by the end of the year. By 2024 9E will be 200 captains, and 1800 FO's with less than 500 hours each.
Surprisingly, there are actually more captains than FOs at Endeavor (according to the latest seniority list).

Now that is a real surprise. Kind of hard to believe.
