There have definitely been CJO holders who have withdrawn and/or no-showed for indoc. It does not appear that EDV is hiring 75+ a month. Of those hired, not sure how many make it through training. The company is going to have to do something to recruit new hires and retain the pilots they already have. As some others have said, it’s not like they can just shift the flying to SKW and RPA. They have the same problem.
EDV has to figure out how to attract and retain pilots at EDV or park AC - it’s that simple.
Before someone chimes in “staple”. While that solves one attrition problem, it easily creates 20+ new problems. It’s highly unlikely to happen as it is neither in DALs financial interest or benefit in the long run.

I know that number sounds bad and it is. What is worse is what Excargodog stated in an earlier post, for ever Fo that is hired you need a captain to fly in the left seat. We are losing captains off the top, in the middle and fo’s that could be upgrading but leave instead. So just hiring will not be enough, which obviously getting people in the door is problem in itself.

You can’t fly without someone in the left front seat, and right now that’s starting to become a regional-wide problem. Look at the bonuses being offered for DECs. And how few takers they are finding for those bonuses…
Pouring people in the bottom won’t work if you can’t retain enough CAs for the FOs to get 1000 hrs of 121 time.

Due to upgrade on 22-02 and have zero interest too. Plus not sure I'll have the 121 hrs yet ( going to be close). If I get picked up by anyone after I hit that 1000 hrs before ever upgrading then awesome.

The regional model is quickly going to disappear., which it should. The new normal will be Fo’s starting out at $90+ an hour in the entry level aircraft. It has to and places like Skywest are going to have to meet that compensation level or go out of business. Once this happens there is no going back to the ridiculous spread between let’s say a 900 pay scale and a 717 pay scale.

You know, back in the Carter administration I believe it was, the MBAs decided that the USAF UPT students who had soloed were “waisting” that T-38 back seat. So it was decided that whenever a soloed UPT student was flying a T-38, another soloed student would ride in back to be able to benefit from the experience. The “dynamic duo” program, as it came to be known, did not last long and was very nearly a disaster. It lives on in infamy
Now for the last time. All the new hires in the world won’t help if the CAs all leave.
