Yeah, that's pretty standard in every ALPA contract. However, from what I was told, PSA "Senior Manned" their FOs into the left seat. Which, if you think about it, would work pretty well for our flow. To flow you've got to be a captain and to have the time to qualify for an upgrade you need somethingplus hours in the right seat. In other words, a system like that accelerates both flow and the accumulation of right seat time at the bottom of the seniority list, and therefore, more qualified captains overall.
I'll put money on it, I bet that's the sticking point. It's why we haven't heard anything yet from negotiations. If it were just more money they were offering then we would know by now.

This is a pretty terrible black and white argument. CA skills are not just flying skills. They are management and people skills. Some pilots are great pilots but have terrible management and people skills.

My point is, some people know their limitations. Some just aren’t meant to be a leader. Or don’t want to be a leader. But they are perfectly capable pilots. Just like every police officer might not want to be a detective, or every doctor might not want to be a surgeon. Not every pilot wants to be a Captain.
