I went, got some decent information....but, I don't get the feeling it was necessarily worth it. Fwiw:
LCA, PCA, sim instructor, 5000+tt, 2000+TPIC, college degree etc.
Info received from a UNited assistant CP:
Ave TT: approx 8000
College degree etc req'd
70% interview success rate. Get the interview and it's your job until you say/do something unintelligent.
Was told to get more recent flying time as I've been sim instructing mainly with the ATP requirement in Aug. Also said i would be what they are looking for if not for the low recent time. TT is competitive but on the low side. Said i had all the boxes checked except recent flit time.
Very straight forward answers to my questions and I appreciated that...Very kind and personable...very competitive right now. Did not get the vibe that being at the job fair mattered, but may have just been who I was talking to.

Now if you started a WASP Pilots Organization that ONLY accepted WASPs that would be a different matter.

are you aware of any meaningful number of OBAP scholarships awarded to a white guy? or WIA scholarships awarded to a man?
sure, anyone can join. but only the targeted demographic will benefit from the membership. everyone else is just paying dues.

They will still look at you. I would go to OBAP (even if it goes against common sense and your principals), go ANYWHERE you can get face time in with the head of hiring (C.V.). I know 8,000 hours and a boat load of it TPIC will be great, but it does not disqualify you if you don't have it. I personally know of a few in new hire class right now with out any TPIC that also were not interns. It is rare, but C.V. knows what to look for, if your have a good personality, a good resume, a great record, and a passion you don't have to have TPIC. Its a huge uphill battle but its nice that he will look at you. Just remember to be memorable (for whatever thats worth) and get face time. When he is looking at 10,000+ resumes and he remembers you from where ever, it will possibly boost you WAY over some random that may look better on paper that you.
