I would be surprised if they actually hired. The vacancy numbers indicate they might have to hire but it doesn't mention new hires. Wouldn't it say something like "58 new hires" if they planned on hiring?
The only reason Pinnacle exists at this point is to put pressure on all the other regionals, the plan is to shrink, end up like Comair and then shutdown when the contract expires. If they need to they will transfer/get rid of airplane to prevent hiring. Delta is sleazy but probably not sleazy enough to break the contract to shut the operation down before the 7 years. Even with 80 airplanes they get to use the new rates 80% of pilots agreed to in order to beat down the other carriers. Once the other carriers have been beat down they can get rid of Pinnacle and we can continue our "careers" at new carriers with a new decreased compensation package in part due to the concessions 80% of 9E pilots agreed to. So why would a new hire want to go to Pinnacle and live with the stigma of having to put Endeavor on their resume for the rest of their life? I wish we all belonged to a Union so they could prevent this type of thing, oh wait . . . .

...........yaaaaaawwwn!!! All you did was repost what 5 other over opinionated guys said many threads ago.... We all know... 80% pinnacle guys sold out the rest of the contract pilot industry... Despite holding the line for over 6 years, voting down numerous BS offers from management during contract negotiations, and bankruptcy. In the midst of certain shutdown.....we thought of our families, instead of Johnny backpack over at xpressjet, who lives in dads basement... Selfish bastards we are..... Back to your dungeon and dragons.
If you were truly thinking of your family you would have a backup plan to aviation in case your airline shut down. I'm sick of hearing the bs i have a family excuse. You all know what you signed up for. The other day at a bar I randomly met an ex NWA mechanic who walked the line with his comrades. He sacrificed his entire job because he refused to the working conditions they were offering (while having a family to support). Anyways I had tremendous respect for the guy and bought him a beer.
I hope this stop the whipsaw movement continues to gain momentum. If I ever meet a 15% voter from 9E, beer is on me.

The ONLY reason Pinnacle and ANY regional exists is due to all the majors giving up their scope period! Pinnacle taking a stand or standing there ground would have done nothing and meant nothing overall in the regional industry. The only way to really stop the downward trend is for the major pilots and or ALPA/APA to get out of bed with their managements and stop the whipsawing among the regionals, but I doubt that will ever happen since scope and greed is the reason the regionals exist anyway. One regional making a stand will do very little. How long did Com Air last?

This is pathetic. I would expect something a little more mature from someone who is supposedly raising a family.
