That is not what ALPA reps have told me... I was told you have to be a current and active CA at Endeavor to be considered for the SSP.

You need to read your PCLMEC Updates closer.

The only guys eligible who aren't "current" CAs are leave of absense guys.

I could see where you might think that. Take a look at the union email from 1/10/13 when they where selling this turd. To be eligible to attend that interview under the SSP, you must be, or have been, a Captain at Pinnacle (or on leave holding a Captain position) at the time of your selection. I was also told from numerous reps that was the case. If you read the SSP it states that you must be a current CA.

I will agree with what you have to say. A possible solution is a meet and great while they look over your PRIA records and attendance before giving the person the go ahead.

Wouldn't that be an interview?

Exactly. ALPA leaders lied at the roadshows to get this turd passed. Now leadership is saying that indeed as it was written in the LOA, you must be CURRENTLY a captain (or have an approved leave while as captain). Anyone downgrading will NO LONGER be a part of the SSP unless they return to a captain position. Similarly if anyone that was on leave as a captain comes back to the line but has to do so as fo, they then are no longer part of the SSP unless they get a captain position back.

Can you blame them? They knew the FOs had no vested interest in the SSP because it didn't apply to them. The next group coming in big numbers is the downgraded CA group. To string them along, they had to offer hope. After all, most of these senior ALPA leaders are all qualified for the SSP and will make it to Delta before you. The actual wording was be a current Captain or had been a Captain and on an approved absence. They played on the words and said it applies to downgraded CAs. A few FOs did remark that the way it was written it would not include downgraded pilots, but their voice was quickly squashed by the email released by the senior side. They thank you for your yes vote and service, now excuse you while they head over to Delta.

Do these same Union folks work at the White House too?:D

This SSP b!tch fest is a non factor anyway.

Firstly, once the initial Captains start going to DAL through the SSP there will be upgrades, so you would most likely be a Captain by the time your number was ever called anyway.

Secondly, they can hire 1/3 of their 12 outside the SSP (just like applying off the street, you just need to meet DAL hiring criteria), so FO's could be part of that mix also.

But continue with your whining, ShyGuy should join your howling any minute, just like a pack of coyotes.

As per the delta hiring staff at recent job fairs - No, they absolutely will not be FO's. They acknowledge that they "can" hire 1/3 out of SSP order, they however have no interest in doing so. Minus the possibility of being someones kid you will go in order.

They can do whatever they want, but the opportunity exists.
