Yeap. Not on reserve, but I think we have guys who have been on reserve for years. The only way off is to get guys behind you and at maybe 10-20 new hires this QUARTER, not looking likely any time soon. If you live in New York it's an alright deal. If you don't live in New York then buyer beware.

Hours will not be an issue. You will fly your butt off on reserve. Especially this winter.

While CarolinaAngler has been here longer, I am a NYC reserve who has been on reserve most of the time I have been at 9E. Sometimes you fly your butt off. This month however, I am on pace to fly maybe 20 hours compared to my 106 hours of credit in July. Sometimes it is feast, sometimes famine. What I do think is that we are close to appropriate staffing in NYC and the number of reserve lines will increase over fall and winter due to less marketing hours. You may not fly as much as you want...then again you might. You just don't know. I'll add one more thing...when winter weather threatens NYC most of our flights just cancel where other bases they deice and go.

Are you riding this out or are you considering a lateral move?

If you can get the EtD, I would come here, you are going to be a Delta pilot eventually. The apps are going to start flooding in here next year, as soon as people start seeing that the Delta hiring commitment is bottoming out the list.

As a mil guy he doesn't need a flow or etd. He will get hired off the street in under 2 years at a major.

Let me give you a clue... I was hired in december 2007 and can no longer hold a first officer reserve slot in MSP. Got displaced to NYC. Out there should be about 50% of the bid package. On reserve about 30-75+ hours a month (depending on which month of the year due)(busier months more flying). generally speaking in recent history its all been 70+ hours on reserve a month due to the lack of pilot compensation.
