Envoy qol
Hi!
I am interested in applying at Envoy, but a lot of people seem to be complaining about the QOL. What is so bad about it? 11 days off don't sound too bad for me... Currently flying A320 abroad. About 80 hours (fixed salary regardless of flight time) turn arounds 5 days in a row, once in a while long trips, 9 days off, about 25 nights at home, a lot of roster changes.... I want to ultimately work at AA 1800 Total time 1600 on the A320 4 years degree Age 25 Thanks! |
QOL is very subjective and different people value different aspects. What Envoy may call bad QOL MESA or PDT might call it good. I can't accurately compare Envoy to other airlines but I can tell you where the complaining is coming from. It's coming for a significant decrease of QOL from the good ole days. We had 300 145 lines in DFW with tons of variety and high value and time off. Now we have 100 lines with less value and less days off and practically no variety. We also have a reserve system that isn't compatible with part 117 and the company and union can't negotiate new rules that work within 117. This causes you to have new reserve rules that is contradictory to the contract.
Also, within the company itself some pilot groups experience better QOL. Stagnation and lack of career progression and bases closing caused significant QOL issues for some. |

Down here we also have the group of people who gets the better assignments all the time. On the other hand, do you think miami will be a Senior base now that is coming back? Thanks a lot! |

Mmm OK, I get your point. How come there was such a great reduction in the number of lines?

We had more than 3000 pilots and now we only have 2000ish. The 175 has 100ish lines. We also have MESA and ExpressJet flying our routes from DFW. Miami is likely to be pretty senior since it going to be a small base.

If you have the option move to where you are based and you will see an exponential increase in QOL. The glory days of yore are gone. We used to do 90% of Americans lift, much lower now. To be more efficient as a company in terms of maximizing load factor the frequency and sized aircraft varies day by day. This causes havoc with the ability to build efficient quality schedules so there are four days trips which pay a woppin 12 hours. Where we used to have 4 days that paid 24. Bottom line is it takes more days of "work" to equal same pay. If you can live in base it vastly improves QOL as days off aren't wasted commuting. I am home drinking a beer before my buddy has even left to go home.
Us, PDT and PSA are the only ones wth a real flow through. If that music keeps playing and upgrade stays at 20 months or less we are one of the best places to work. 4 to 6 years to get to American, not too shabby. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk |
Living in base is a huge QOL enhancer. Be very careful about planning a move to a base. DFW is probably the only "safe base" to move in to. What's here today may be gone tomorrow. The company recently closed 5 bases and has recently reopened one (LGA), and soon to be two with Miami. Miami is only an 18 month commitment from AAG. It hopefully will remain open longer when they realize how awesome we are. Haha. Things change quickly in RJ world. Plan accordingly or don't.

It's a little better at AA but not much. I got way better schedules at Eagle in it's good ole days with some seniority than I do at AA bottom. 12 days off at AA with two years in is quite common. Easier duty days sorta but some all nighters super late/early schedules are a beat down. |
Would any newer FOs mind posting their June schedules? Just wondering what a typical month looks like. Thanks.
