True, true. I do wonder how many of those cats bid RSV on purpose. Personally, I always bid RSV. But I live in base...still. I have much better control over my schedule being on RSV than locked into a hard line with only 11 or 12 days off...which is what my current seniority could hold.

Yep...I'd say most guys that are local would take RSV over a line with the same amount of days off.

Out of DFW? We are doing paper plane runs to ACT, TXK, CLL, GRK, and ABI all day every day. Bastards even took away our ROW and gave it to the 175. The only advantage to being a DFW 145 Captain is not having to bid against all the grey haired lifers...most of whom have scurried over to the 175. So even us young whipper snapper Captains on the 145 can get the schedules, OT, and vacation blocks that we want without having to worry about all the Gramps taking it from you.
What the hell does leg length have to do with the quality of the hotel at your overnight? A 2.5 hour flight to the CVG Holiday Inn sucks just as bad as a 1 hour flight to the CVG Holiday Inn from ORD. Also, there are plenty of trips out of MIA that have short legs - FPO, NAS, GNV, JAX, TPA...to name a few.

I honestly don't think any of those overnights have bad hotels. Sure, the Radisson CVG is better than the Holiday Inn..but it's not bad. I agree with you that the TLH hotel isn't the greatest, but most overnights there are pretty short anyway. The others are all decent to good. In my opinion.

Otherwise, the only thing we have to compare is leg length. And yes, it sucks balls doing 4-5 legs per day like a go-kart with barely enough time to reach cruise. It's the old turbo prop runs...back in the day when the 145 was the 175 of the fleet...you know..new, shiny, all that jazz.

In MIA you guys still have long legs to break up the monotony. Until AA decides Republic is yesterday's news and opens a 175 base down there. Speaking of which...145 ORD guys better get ready. Whatever decent schedules you currently have is getting ready to be decimated with the arrival of the mini A319.

Well meal flights must block at over 2:30 so Waco wouldn't be a meal flight ;-)

I got so sick of dealing with crew scheduling on reserve I started bidding whatever hard line I could hold.

IDK, seems that AA owns part of RAH along with DL and UAL. IDK for sure how the AA flying will go in MIA at RAH. Most say that RAH with AA will maintain a presence in MIA just what level is to be seen.

As I recall recent history AE or Envoy lost MIA as a base for 3 years and just got it back. Congrats we can always use the addition lift to JAX, PNS, TPA, FPO, NAS. Just teasing folks.
