You would get the bonus payment on your first day of indoc training.

Was it worth it? how soon were you able to regain the QOL?

Has anyone completed the Near Entry Captain program? (500hrs + 121 Time)

My wife and I are struggling financially after a year in the regionals transitioning out of the military, and im wondering if giving up the seniority is worth the sign on bonus.

Thank you in advance.
I am former USAF pilot with 121 heavy and a one year break in flying. Coming in under the Near Entry program and have been told I should get the same bonus as a DEC. Giving up Seniority for a quick upgrade and the bonus is worth it if you’re looking at two to three years before upgrade at another regional. However, prior military aviators with 121 time usually get sucked up pretty quick at bigger companies.

Make sure that you have proved your hours to the hiring department before the first day of class. If all your checks aren’t on the table before class starts don’t think you’ll get anymore later.

I'd make the jump if they actually raised the pay instead of dangling 45k for coming over then paying way less than I'll make as a CA where I currently am. I think most people that would have been elligible also saw that pretty obvious problem so that's why the DEC program hasn't worked as well as they were hoping. Raise the damn pay for everyone!

Who says the DEC program isn’t working?

The DEC program is actually working well enough, fortunately or unfortunately. It is filling a short’ish term void and won’t be needed much longer as 2016 hires (big hiring wave) are already starting to upgrade.

I was under the impression is wasn't working that well from other posts on this forum. Unfortunately I guess that means no pay bumps, and I bet what helped it become more successful is the fact that Endeavor stopped hiring for a while and Envoy was probably the next best option for FOs with plenty of time who were looking to get out of dead end airlines.

I think that the DEC program is about to get a lot more interesting. Someone from the union said that they estimate that roughly 60 f/o’s were eligible for upgrade on this vacancy. If that’s true, then there are roughly 104 captain slots left open for the DEC’s and other aviators who hit 950 hours after the bid closed. In theory, there is ORD 145 and CRJ available, along with LGA 145. That could help lure more DEC’s if they know that other options are available.

Pretty sure that was the intent for the standing bid loa from the company's perspective
