Well he was always going to do what was in the best interest for himself. He doesn’t actually care about anyone but himself and his own fame and glory. If he really cared about pilots and industry coworkers he would have joined up in the union and went for a leadership position and used his platform for change. However, he’s in it for the fame and monetary gains. Cute how he went for upgrade and was a captain for a hot minute just for the propaganda and photo shoot knowing full well that he was leaving for UA in a week.

Jealous? Or perhaps on to something about influencers….?
Two things needed in this business at all levels. You better be able to aviate well, and you better be someone who people can work with and share the tight confines of a flight deck, hotel van, etc, for four or more days. He seems to meet those two criteria well. The challenge is to be noticed somehow in order to secure an interview with a major airline of one’s choice (assuming that’s the goal). If firing up a social media channel gets one noticed, and in a good way, then good on him. I’m happy for this guy. Good for him. Even though I’m way past his stage in this career, I’ve always enjoyed watching his vids. They are well done and his enthusiasm shows through clearly. For his future crew members, he’ll be a great guy to fly with. |

Lol! Not in this young man’s case. People right here on APC have commented about meeting him and they say he’s a really nice guy. Likable.

I don't get why nobody is neutral on Swayne, he's either changing the world for the better and a true hero to the profession or a useless scab.
He's an average pilot with above-average charisma who is nice to your face and possesses a natural aptitude for self-promotion. That's the whole story. Everybody go home. |
There’s a natural predisposed crush factor that garners support (and hate).
Which explains to me the communities general pass on a perceived double standard. |
