What everyone seems to forget is we get to wear leather jackets, those “mainline” pilots can’t. So what does that say about AA.

American “The real AA” Eagle > AA

Quite true. But I’d gladly give up the ability to wear a jacket I don’t own for a $100/hr pay raise and the benefits that go with it.

So you'd drop a QoL item that doesn't affect you for a fistful of crumpled up pieces of paper?
That's nice of you.
Hey, I don't commute, can we trade the commuter policy and commuter hotels for something good?

About the only time I have those “crumpled up pieces of paper” is when I tip the hotel van drivers. The rest of the time it is just numbers in my account that gets transferred back and forth. But I would still rather have more of those numbers.

And even if I did have a leather jacket, I would STILL give it up for $100/hr pay raise. If you wouldn’t, well, I guess you just better not leave The Envoy.

That’s your problem, go order one. You’ll be willing to take a pay cut once you put it on and start strutting around the airport feeling like a TopGun extra

Extra, not a chance. I’m already on retainer as consultant. No need for a Envoy wanna be A-2.

Point being, if you don't use something don't say you'd give it away. [/rant]

Actually I flowed through mid 2018 and I still consider an Envoy pilot an American pilot. It is pretty simple for me. You are hired to be an AA pilot before you get to the pipeline. Envoy flies AA painted planes with NN registrations, have exactly the same uniforms and the same computer system among other things. There is no additional interview or screening after the initial where you are hired at Envoy. A simple departmental transfer is all that happens. Why don't you explain to me how you think you are not American Airlines.

Yeeeesh, this is almost as bad / cringey as Skywest calling themselves mainline cause they own their own planes. HA!

No, point being there is nothing that is allowed (and the leather jacket is allowed, not provided) at Envoy, or any other regional, that is not worth giving up for the benefits of a mainline carrier.

I can’t believe this has turned into a serious conversation.
