There are a large number of retirements in the coming years, but this current bubble is making up for the last two or so years of retirements and early Covid retirements with no hiring. Once those Covid years are made up, things will taper off to a more manageable and consistent level.

No way to predict that. Pretty clear word is the majority of focus is staffing 175s.

Are you already flying at least 135?

I agree. But doing “double” or “triple” hiring will have devastating consequences to the regionals model as it is now. When hiring moderates (still historically very large) if will be from a very different terrain.

I can assure you that your class will be the only all 145 class of 2022.

Coming to Envoy has always been a roll of the dice. They’ll do 6 all 175 classes followed by an all 145.

doesn’t look like that’s changed.

That statement should more accurately read Currently, we are not aware of any immediate plans to park the fleet (145) fully and expect the EMJ to be around for the next few years.”

“..expect the EMJ to be around for the next few years.” is the important part of that statement.

The plan has been for the 145s to be parked in favor of 175s (170s) for some time, but AAG doesn’t want to put out the money to do so. They want FFD carriers like SKW and RPA to buy them, which is what has been happening as of late.

BTW, the original quote by Chato came from a recent union communication.

Yes, the EMJ is one of MANY ways the 145 is referred to by Envoy. Depends which section is referring to it. It can be very confusing without the context of know what the OTHER plane is referred to by that particular group. The 175 has just as many names as well, by the same groups, but generally PILOT documents refer to the 145 as EMJ and 175 as ERJ, which is what the type rating shows.

Embraer actually refers to the 145 as the ERJ145 and the 175 as just the E175.

Sounds like Republic could throw 38 E170s onto the AA operation from UA, that will put a dent in either Envoy’s or Piedmont’s 145 fleet.
