Get a 5.5 year flow in writing lol

Do. Not. Come. Here. The cadet program will shackle you to here and you will be completely stuck as you watch all your friends getting mainline jobs way faster than you flow. Seriously. Don’t do it. And don’t believe any recruiters, for anything really.

Anybody read the discover loan thats used in the cadet program! Scariest thing I have read! 21 percent apr! Go to school use govt loans if needed. Don't use the AA financing for the cadet program no matter what!

Cadet Academy | American Airlines

So scary

I should have mentioned I’m already a CFII. Only a few hundred hours from R-ATP minimums.

I was gonna do the interview just to have another offer in my pocket but if I have to sign a letter of commitment then I’m not really interested. Especially considering all the replies to this thread.

Bro, REALLY I am not the kind of pilot who hates life and I know no company is perfect.

Recent actions from different envoy members, from gate agents, to scheduling, to chief pilots to management has brought my moral to a new all time low.

It is not just about the money really, it’s the kinda thing that you will realize at 2 and a half years at the company and be like “holly shirt... this guys only concern is if I will be at the plane and block out on time.”

They do not care where you might sleep a certain night due to things beyond your control. They don’t care what happens to you in a layover. All they care of is on time performance not even passenger satisfaction. It has been so
Embarrassing having to tell passengers the reality if they are gonna make it home or not or wether they will be protected.

I won’t go into details, just take this advice. Go to a place where people seem happy, you get to be home and has industry leading pay. I am trying my hardest to get out of here, even if we get a pay raise... that is not enough. I want to be seen and treated as a professional pilot.

If you can, go
Elsewhere. Envoy should be your bottom choice.

I mean it, unfortunately.

Sad but so so true AA is noted for this unfortunately!

If you’re that close to ATP mins, you won’t be accepted into the Cadet program. If you’re not a Cadet, it’s likely you’ll end up on the 145 and stuck on reserve for quite a long time.

There was a guy in my class that was a cadet for 3 weeks. They ended up getting the last 175 slot.

Company has recently posted a vacancy for 60 145 FOs in NY. No one is going to bid those slots. They will be assigned to new hires.

Hope you enjoy flying an obsolete jet in the most challenging weather and airspace in the country, 20 minutes at a time.

Ahh I just have to say this. There is no letter of commitment if you’re joining a partner school. A pipeline school yes.

That means you can sign a letter to join the program. What everyone is saying on here about signing a commitment ONLY applies when YOU ACCEPT BONUS MONEY.

Not taking sides, just stating a fact. Otherwise until things improve, you know how it is on here for now.
