Maybe someone should have read it to you. At what point are you responsible for your decisions? Having a kid is a decision, just like spending your money on hookers and jet skis is a decision. I don’t think one is any more or less responsible than the other they’re just choices. My kids are taught that their decisions have consequences, what do you teach your kids? The world doesn’t owe you a raise because you couldn’t use a rubber.

I’ve compared checks to a Skywest FO and been horrified. Take home is take home, and influenced by a lot of things, but I made less than half of what this guy did, with 4 less days off.
Play the long game. |

I don't even have kids, I want to get paid a living wage for doing a professional job. I don't understand pilots that constantly work against themselves. I think there's a phrase for that, blue falcon?

So someone who has a lifestyle/family they can afford is immature? That’s rich. You know how kids are made and what this job paid when you took it. Your lack of decision making, math, and family planning skills isn’t strengthening your point. Should we get raises? Sure, but not because you make poor life choices.
I’m not following here. Are you saying having wife and kid is a poor life choice? |

Let’s just put this back here to remind us how this rabbit trail started. You continue to show how young and immature you are. You have no wife, kids, and very little life outside of work. Not going to fault you for working your ass off. I did it for a season of my flying career.
That being said your original comment was pompous and immature. There are things called deductions that effect take home pay. Comparing take home pay is grossly misleading. You took home +30% more than I did on a mid month check when I was on a higher pay bracket. I’m really just curious how much you credit and how much OT you pick up. I'm also older than you are. You got the numbers you asked for. The fact that you choose to deduct more from your paycheck is a personal choice. No state income tax in TX helps too. To me - this is the time to work my ass off. Any 175 FO can do what I'm doing - at least for now. I've posted so many comments about the fact that my posts are only valid for 175 FO's I think they are going out of fashion, or something. The latest 175 NH's will likely have a different experience with the displacements coming up. Fly a lot, get your time, and GTFO from a regional. For DFW guys who are lucky enough to get the 175, it's a good deal. That's all I've ever said. |
