Why is everyone complaining and calling our Dera?
I understand what he has said is
a bit crazy but who cares. Yeah he may be lying, he may be making more than you. Who cares. Focus on yourself and make the most you can. I only net $2k/month. It is what it is. I deal with it but just want a different place i can pull money from.

Yall whine too much.

It’s not a question of whining. It’s a question of making sure people get accurate and realistic information. You whining about us whining is a bit ironic.

I am pretty sure that I have met Dera before...good dude, and definitely not management. Dera is hustler - good for him.

What needs to be reiterated is this...if you come to Envoy, there is a chance that you will be awarded the E175. If you then also live/move to DFW or ORD...life might be pretty descent, and you might have then have an opportunity to net 4K a month, but you are going to be working considerable harder compared to Skywest, Endeavor, ExpressJet, Republic, or PSA. If you hustled there, I bet you could break 5-6k a month as an FO, or working less while having a much better experience as an FO, ~4K a months still very possible.

Conversely...if you can’t move to base, or get assigned the EMJ, life will be considerably different.

Let’s just put this back here to remind us how this rabbit trail started. You continue to show how young and immature you are. You have no wife, kids, and very little life outside of work. Not going to fault you for working your ass off. I did it for a season of my flying career.

That being said your original comment was pompous and immature. There are things called deductions that effect take home pay. Comparing take home pay is grossly misleading. You took home +30% more than I did on a mid month check when I was on a higher pay bracket. I’m really just curious how much you credit and how much OT you pick up.

I’m trying to understand why this is a thread on side hustles for professional airline pilots that aren’t fairly compensated in the first place.

For this profession, I don’t believe people need to have a side hustle just to make ends meet! We should be compensated fairly and accordingly.

It’s an embarrassment, you all know it and whether you want to acknowledge that fact is on you.

We can always talk about what we can net if we do such and such a thing, but people have families to tend to, other obligations etc.

Not everyone can pick up OT, not everyone can pick up a second job. And we wonder why divorce rates are so high in the industry.

The question should be what can we do in unity with our Pilot Group and Union (legally) to have the company treat us the valued professionals that we know we are ?

My .02

And I wish all the best for my fellow brothers and sisters.

There is only one answer. LEAVE. Find a better job that pays more. This isn’t a quit if you don’t like it statement. Or if you are so unhappy why don’t you leave quip.

The only way we are going to get better pay is if they can’t keep pilots in the seat. The mass exodus of 2014-2015 lead to the FO bonus plus jump two pay scales LOA.

Side note when I was on reserve my wife asked me if I got fired and didn’t want to tell her because I was home so much. I started driving for Uber and Lyft while on RAP and the wife and kid were at work and school. I needed something I could quit at a moments notice and go to work.

Eh. I know mainline guys making over 200k and still have a side hustle. Not sure your argument holds water at all levels.

Because Dera will continually try to put down other pilots all the time because he's "heard a lot of stories" his less than one year on property. While also taking the 10% of things that are good at envoy and making it seem like they happen all the time which is misleading to people researching envoy. And I actually wish Dera was management, then all of his ridiculous comments would at least serve some purpose, but no he is in fact a line pilot. He makes it painfully obvious who he is as well.

And I bet their reasonings are a lot different other than they need to make more money to maintain afloat financially.
