New hire expectations

Hello everyone. I’ve read just about every post on here that’s been active the last two months. I’ve read the pay issues that seem to be addressed if I’m a new pilot. Question now with union and management pay agreement is this: What can a new hire expect realistically for frame, base and reserve times now. I’m a military pilot with plenty of hours on a west coast commute.

Thanks

Here’s my prediction: 3 months training as an FO on the 145. 6 months in NYC on reserve , 3 with unlimited commuter hotels and 3 without. Another 3 months on reserve in Chicago, followed by another 12 months or so on reserve in Dallas before holding a line. Give or take 3 months in any base.

You can more than likely expect to be commuting to LGA and flying the 145. Is that really what you want to do as a west coast commuter? No non-stop flights between LGA and the west, so you’re limited to JFK (shouldn’t be too bad), but still. Why not SkyWest, or Horizon? You’ll hold DFW eventually, but it will take a bit. Then you’ll be fighting mainline for the jumpseat as they do the bulk of the west coast to Dallas flying.

If you’re sold on coming here then by all means welcome, but I would give a lot of thought to the QOL of commuting across the country for Envoy.

Sounds like a horrible idea for you to come here unless you have a very compelling reason, which you may.

I won’t repeat the above posters but they are pretty spot on.

I don’t know if it’s really any consolation, but at least Dougie is only paid in stock and the stock price is taking a beating.

Mesa’s priority seems to be United flying, and it sounds like that might be in jeopardy. The money major shareholders have to lose or gain isn’t going to make or break them, but the lives of all the employees of the companies associated with these places certainly can be devastated.

Skywest is great but looking at pay to be honest. Taking a big hit coming to commuter from civilian Buisness and need a small stint to make relative my military time again. So chasing a couple extra dollars for sure. Don’t want horizon, want back in jets. Great company though just wrong frame.

Skywest is east coast for juniors too. They are one of my 3 CJO’s

There are expectations of them moving westward

Horizon has the 175, and theirs are the most tricked out of any airline.

You’ll be at the bottom of the barrel for picking frame and base. You could get lucky and get an all 175 class. In which case you’ll get DFW or ORD and not spend more than a few months on reserve. Or as the others say, 145 LGA which would suck for you on multiple levels. Or maybe just maybe ORD 145 out the gate.
