Quote: Im pretty sure the union cannot change the IT system the largest airline in the world runs on.
Removing this function would also remove the consensual pilot to pilot trades, something that would be harmful for everyone.
It has never been abused like this before, no-one has been sleazy enough to do this to a fellow pilot until a few months ago when the Blue Falcon started doing this to fix his schedule while ruining other's.

I’m only just hearing about this but it has happened before, sometime back in mid 2000s. That was long before any apps so everyone knew DECS but some more than others, but it’s was also a case of HIY being left “open”, and while this wasn’t a straight dumping situation it was trading trips off people unwittingly.

The person who realized what had happened confronted the other pilot, who wouldn’t trade back and claimed it was legal based on seniority, if I remember correctly. Went up the management chain and while everyone knew it was wrong, the lawyers said there was nothing against it technically, and I think bought off the seniority claim...so nothing happened.

Looks like it’s been resolved in a similar fashion and I wouldn’t be surprised if precedent of that case wasn’t cited.

I don't see how a confirmation window of sorts would hurt at all. Just a simple yes or no before each trip trade so nobody can dump or steal anymore without some kind of specific consent. This feature wont ruin trip trading or p2p trades

The simplest solution to Blue Falcon type scenarios is to just vote in PBS, get a Flica style program for scheduling, and be done with it. No more manipulations. No more falconry. No more mobs of pilots wanting to ruin a guy's life because he has the moral values of an 18th century pirate in the Straits of Malaca.

Strike that. The simplest solution is not to be a Lima Bravo.

Were you here when we ran the PBS software side by side under the rules and pairings the company created?
Bad idea.

Don't just strike it.... burn it from your memory under this management.

EDIT - If they did like a few other airlines and let the pilot union build the pairings and make decent rules it could work very well for everybody. However, they are control freaks and folks like GI Jane won't give up control. Even if they agree to, they'll find a way to sour the milk.

Yeah the simplest solution is to just take concessions... No thanks

That’s why I said “strike that”. PBS won’t do anything for us because JE won’t do anything new that isn’t based on 1960’s technology and because when you import a crappy flight file from AAG, you export a garbage PBS schedule.

Blue Falcon is the offspring of GI Jane and the kooj.

You don't need PBS to use Flica.

There are pilots that review the pairings and have input. But like was said, Garbage in equals garbage out. Obviously right now we are dealing with an extreme set of garbage.

But FLICA is an external program, just as is QuickTrade.

The big answer without a change in the flight file is a change in the work rules.

PBS sucks if we don’t have the union controlling the criteria. Keep in mind, with PBS, say goodbye to schedule conflict, DTS, TL etc. I’m surprised the company hasn’t implemented PBS after the 50th 175.

On the other hand...
ATTOT is about to open in a couple of days, be careful with Blue Falcon. I’m sure he’s gonna try to pull the same shi+. I’d love to get paired to fly with him.
