Serious question. Why are envoy captains still leaving for spirit? Even after the new delta variant of the bonus?

Don’t think there are many that are captain that are leaving, certainly not for Spirit. There are a few well known captains that have left for ACMIs.

Plenty, actually
600-800ish seniority

Define “plenty”. Obviously I don’t hear everyone and everywhere people are going, but I don’t consider the numbers that I have seen in that seniority range as plenty.

The majority that I have seen leaving are mid to high seniority FOs, with 1200-2000 hours but still don’t have seniority to upgrade. The next bid that should be within a few weeks will see how many of those could hold captain.

The range of what people are leaving for is all over the place. Back to helicopters, MEDEVAC and fractional and charter as well as the ACMI and ULLCs.

The bonus isn’t going to keep very many at Envoy that haven’t already decided it’s American or bust, but it does reward them.

Bottom line is people will leave when they can get something that works better for them. Just depends where they are in life and on the seniority list as what is considered better.

To follow up, 800 from the March seniority list was 770 in August. Although, the August list didn’t include many who left during the month. But 30 total includes a number of retirements in that time much closer to the top, so that still doesn’t make the numbers in 600-800 leaving as “plenty” in my book.

The closer you are to the top of the list makes it much harder to leave for something that isn’t one of the top half dozen or so carriers.

That was in reference to CA leaving for Spirit. I can think of least two that put in 2 weeks to go there in August, another one in July - and that's just the ones I know of.

i don’t know what is considered “many” but I know of more than one? Seems like just one would be “too many” according to RW and his words at my upgrade supper at salt grass

If RW was genuinely concerned about more than one is “many” then he could do something to change it.

RW eats his steaks with ketchup and takes it well done. That should tell you exactly
how psychotic he is. Pilots leaving for airlines in droves directly falls on him and is a reflection of his leadership.

Pilots are leaving because they’ve woken up to the fact they can earn a bunch more money at a LCC or some other gig and still get into a legacy before they would have flowed. And even if they end up staying where they bounce to from envoy they’re still probably better off.

Honestly it’s more AA than it is Envoy. The ******show that is envoy basically accelerates that slightly.

I would even say it is supply and demand, industry wide.
