CJO start date
 

I have a CJO and I wanted to know what's the farthest out I can schedule training date. I need to buy time maybe about 3 more months before I can start and move my family since I'm not willing to commute.

Move your family where? You only know where you will be based day 1 of indoc.

I currently live far from all the bases. It doesn't matter which one it is. I just need to know how far out they will allow me to schedule class date.

What I mean is, let's say they delay it by 6 months. And you move to MIA during that time. And you get 145 ORD, you will commute for 3-4 years.

Ask the class prep people the emailed you your CJO

if he moves the family to Chicago, I think it's a very high probability he'll get it. Historically speaking.
that being said, I'd grab the earliest class, seniority is everything, that's a lesson learned either a pleasant or unpleasant way, but learned nevertheless.

I think it's just way smarter to not only take the earliest class but wait to move until he gets his base. He'll be in training for almost all of that three months he says he needs to move anyway, if not more.

Do you hope to actually start so you know where you will be and then delay your training? That sounds like the more plausible scenario, but that is definitely a question for recruiting.

I can't answer your question but consider this: The absolute earliest class date is what you want. If an unexpected disaster strikes the industry, do you want to be a junior FO still flying (with benefits) or do you want to be furloughed? Furloughs typically happen to an entire class. Being in the last class NOT furloughed will keep you employed and accruing longevity. Talk to pilots who were furloughed after 911 who would have remained employed if they had taken an earlier class date what they think about waiting for a class date that is more convenient for them. ALWAYS take the earliest class date offered! After my furlough (one month of DOH from not getting furloughed), I lost 1.5 years of longevity for pay that I never made up. Tens of thousands of dollars of income because of lost longevity. Bottom line, there are many reasons to accept the earliest class date. Only a few reasons not to, and that is only known to you (and your family).
