Goobers. Pilots generally like location, food options, but tastes differ radically - a shockingly high number of guys just want CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP, Wendy's in the parking lot type stuff. Others want local places that are actually good/interesting.

Then you have FA's (and some pilots) who couldn't care less about food options as long as they have a fridge and preferably a microwave in their room.

We all stay in the same hotels so they wind up being the best fit for the most people of what the co. is able to source.

That said, there's nothing stopping you from booking your own hotel. Maybe some of you have gotten paired with the trust fund FO who books his own stays at Hyatts and Four Seasons every other night.

I wonder if theres any better option than where we stay in BPT. The hotel and especialy the gym smell very musty, its a long walk through muddy grass to get past the highway to some food options, and on seperate occasions ive witnessed a fist fight in the street and then a drug deal in the next parking lot

SLP was insanely nice, I felt like an intruder it was so nice. Also, I think BHM was cool, lots of great places close walk, with trendy accommodations. I hate to jink it, but I feel things are slowly trending upward. Got rid of the old EVV was a huge win, and yes lots of progress still to be had. SHV has been an extreme improvement from one of worst to more top tier.

also, I fill out crew care report to a tune of 10 positive for every one bad. Not only does it help keep the places that we like or are trying to get better, but it gives you more credibility when you do provide a negative. I’d encourage others to do the same. Honestly, I think that the company and the union are both trying and making progress in these areas.

overall I think the crappy overnights are beginning to be more rare and the others have something positive in the hotel itself and/or places fun next to them.

The biggest opposition to cool downtown hotels are the FAs. There are some old vocal b*****s there complaining if they don't have a microwave for their slam clicking lifestyle.

Let’s face it, much like my ex, there are a number of people (pilots as well) that nothing you do will make them happy, but not having to deal with &itchy FAs is one of the best reasons to fly cargo.

Would the fatigue report count as “caused by operations” if I am sick and tired of hearing the FAs talk about microwaves and fridges in the room during the entire four day?

Sounds more than reasonable to me…😬

Before you bash FAs for slam clicking consider that they’re basically working for free.

They don't get fatigued either. I’ve timed out before on a very long day where the FA’s were still good to continue. So I can see this from their point of view, get to the hotel to go look for food. hmm
