So besides PBS, what actually ended up going through here?

1 extra day off (most people on reserve were getting it as a transition conflict anyway)

Various industry standard rigs, 100% DH pay

Extra kicker for those that either flow or otherwise hired at AA is payout of sick time.

Halloween and Independence Day also premium days.

Any pilot who has flown 750 or more Captain qualifying hours (i.e., applicable Part 121.436 flight time for PIC qualification).

With CA pay starting at 750 hours, does this mean that they're about to start going hard on the forced upgrades as well?

they run a vacancy bid every 3-4 months i believe, id say it also takes that much time to go from 750 to 950 hrs.

I don’t think the forced upgrades was what this is about. This is was just a temporary fix to increase FO pay to encourage them to stay a little longer and not jump to a LCC/ULLC. Obviously not going to do anything if Delta or United calls.

That being said, yes, Forced upgrades are coming. I think the only reason the company chose NOT to do it on the last bid is they got nearly as many as they wanted AND leaving a few vacancies meant they could offer the standing vacancy, which is basically what gives the ability to offer direct entry Captain positions.

Whether there will be any 145 captain vacancies either published or back filled on the next bid is the big question.

Aside from Covid, for quite a few years, bids have consistently been every three months at the end of every quarter and run the beginning of the next quarter.

The LOA also includes giving year for year credit for pay and vacation purposes for prior 121 pilots. This is specifically stated for those hired after the LOA is effective, for 18 months, and can be suspended by the company if they decide they are getting enough new hires.

I believe it was for prior 121 ALPA Pilots, if I understood it correctly.

What is your guess on forced upgrades from 175FO -> 145CPT?

175FO forced to 175CPT wouldn't be bad but could cause a non-commuter to start to commute for a bit. Having to swap 175>145 would not be fun...

Doesn’t say anything about specific to ALPA, just “121 carrier”.
